People chase money. Some of them may end up very wealthy. They fail to understand that money is only a result of abundant liberty, which is created by a community of freemen who didn’t value wealth above all.
A community is organized not by its leader, but around an idea. The pattern is always the same: a person has an idea, plants it in a few people’s minds, and then the idea itself will grow.
However there was an idea that was so powerful, so astonishing to me, that I found it impossible to ignore. If the story had to be told in one minute, I would tell it like this:
God became Man.
He proclaimed an Idea.
An Idea of a Kingdom unlike any kingdom of this world.
An Idea that saved countless lives from hunger and thirst and despair;
An Idea that created countless other ideas, communities, and wealth.
One who lives only for money will never understand even a ten-thousandth of the greatness of one who sought something infinitely greater than wealth, but who also created all this, with a pure idea and that idea alone.
他帶我回到殿門,看哪,有水從殿的門檻下面往東流出 …… 這河水所到之處,百物都必存活。(以西結書47:1,9)
我要把生命的泉水白白賜給那口渴的人喝。(啟示錄21:6)
